- Multi-Taksing – Providing the function of running multiple applications, all at the same time, and being able to use a new interface that will enable the user to smoothly switch between the application of choice.
- Background Audio – This makes the phone able to run 3rd party Apps like Pandora Radio in the background, while surfing the web, checking email, or playing making a Calendar note.
- Customizable Wallpaper Background – Provides the ability to change the wallpaper background that is located behind the apps on the main screen of the device.
- VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) - This give the functionality to make internet connection style calls, using Skype, instead of using your wireless carrier minutes. Of course, all parties on a call have to be registered for Skype as well.
- Background Location – Being able to hear audio instructions, from a GPS system, while driving down the road listening to music.
- Folders – On the home screen of the iPhone, a user can create folders to house certain applications. Thus, less clutter of apps.
- Unified Inbox – When in Mail, the option is available to combine all email accounts into one unified inbox.
- iAd – A new, and very innovative, form of advertising that will be available inside all of the applications that will be running on iPhone OS 4.
